About CRD :: Privacy Policy

CRD Privacy Statement

1. How does CRD approach member privacy?

CRD values our member privacy because our members value their privacy and because we value our customers. Member privacy is a priority in the online commerce brought to the customer through CRD.

2. What information is considered private?

All information pertaining directly to the customer is considered private. This information includes the following: name, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number, date of birth, and credit card number.

3. Who is authorized to view private information?

CRD and CRD staff are authorized to view the customer's private information (except for the credit card number) so that we are better able to serve that particular customer when and if the customer contacts us for questions and service. CRD staff members are authorized to view a customer's private information for business purposes, since CRD is responsible for completing orders made by the customer through CRD.

Select CRD staff members are authorized to access a customer's entered credit card information. However, these staff members use the information for the express purpose of completing the customer's order through CRD. All credit card information is secured through the CRD Secure Server and the transaction process which leads to the approval of the customer's credit card information. During the transaction process, transaction services and financial institutions may view a customer's private information for the purpose of completing financial transactions.

CRD will release private information when such information is requested by federal, state, or local legal authorities. CRD will also release private information whenever necessary to protect the legal and physical well-being of the CRD program, CRD, the customer, and/or other individuals associated with the CRD program.

4. Who is not authorized to view private information?

Anyone who is not a CRD staff member, a staff member of CRD servicing the customer, or a staff member of a transaction service or financial institution involved in the financial transaction process, is not authorized to view private information under normal circumstances.

It is not the policy of CRD to release a customer's private information to businesses and organizations engaged in commercial mailings and the like. A customer submits private information for the exclusive purpose of completing an order and receiving service.

5. Are there security risks for which CRD cannot be held responsible?

CRD Secure Server Guarantee (see the Security / Guarantee) serves as the customer's guarantee of the security of all transactions made through the CRD Secure Server using its integrated SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology.

When a customer sends private information to CRD through any method other than the CRD Secure Server, no guarantee of the security of private information is provided. All e-mails, telephone calls, letters, and other forms of communication not through the CRD Secure Server, should be considered insecure and able to be intercepted in transit by unauthorized parties. CRD considers the likelihood of interception of such forms of communication by unauthorized parties low but finds it necessary to point out the risk of such interception.

6. Is there any other information that does not fit the "private" classification and that CRD can record?

CRD computer systems frequently have access to information that is not directly related to the customer himself or herself. CRD has the ability to record a user's IP address (the address that identifies a user's computer on the Internet); however, in most cases, this information cannot be traced back to the customer. Other information accessible to CRD computer systems through the Internet includes, in many cases, the customer's computer operating system, browser software description, browser version, domain name, and referring web page.

CRD may use "cookies," or information stored on a customer's computer, for the purpose of providing online services to the customer. It is the opinion of CRD that the use of "cookies" will benefit the customer, CRD, and the CRD program, when applicable, by providing a profile related to the customer's online history with CRD and the customer's preferences.

The customer should be aware that the above types of information, among others, may be sent by his or her computer across the Internet and that he or she may not be aware of it. Use of CRD Web site implies permission given to CRD to track this information for research purposes.
